Sep 14, 2010

Lt Gen Dave McIlvoy, retired Air Force, was named the new Chief Executive Officer for Boysville on July 1, 2010.

Gen McIlvoy replaces Lenna Baxter, who retired from Boysville with 25 years of service.

Gen McIlvoy served in the United States Air Force for 35 years.  Highlights of his career include being a Wing Commander in Bellville AFB and Grand Forks AFB.

He and his wife, Leanna, were transferred to Randolph Air Force Base and before his retirement he was the Vice Commander of the Air Force Education and Training Command.  After retiring in 2000, he entered into college administration at both the University of the Incarnate Word and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he still is an Assistant Professor of Management.   Gen McIlvoy has served on the Boysville Board for 8 years and was president in 2008.  He was also is a member of the United Way Board of Directors for San Antonio until July 2010.

“I can’t think of anything more important than taking care of children in need,” said McIlvoy.  “My wife and I have been tutors for the past 2 years and by working with these children on a daily basis motivated me to want to lead this organization.”

Gen McIlvoy is working with the Board of Directors to create a new strategic plan.  He has a vision for Boysville that aligns with the mission.

“We need to stay flexible,” said McIlvoy.   “Boysville has continued to meet the needs of the community by modifying or adding programs.  We need to enhance our resource base to ensure long –term funding.  We also need to work on replacing our aging buildings,” he said.

Gen McIlvoy credits Lenna Baxter with creating a program that continually meets the needs of the community.  “Boysville has a nice array of programs from our Emergency Shelter to Foster Care to our Parenting Programs.  Boysville continues to look at children’s needs in the community and meet them.”

Gen McIlvoy and his wife have been married for 44 years and have two grown children and nine grandchildren.
