The Boysville Board of Directors is pleased to announce Harvey Najim, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sirius Computer Solutions, as the 2010 Arthur O’Krent Humanitarian Award recipient.
The Arthur O’Krent Humanitarian Award is given to an individual who, by civic action, demonstrates love and concern for the well-being of children within our community. Past recipients of the award include Fully Clingman, Tom Frost, former Governor Dolph Briscoe, Dr. Dale Wood, Edith McAllister, Reverend Buckner Fanning, Rosemary Kowlaski, Bill Greehey, Judge Peter Sakai and Reuben Escobedo.
Harvey Najim is the Chairman and CEO of Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc. Mr. Najim founded the company in 1980 under the name Star Data Systems. In 1997, Mr. Najim renamed his company Sirius, after the brightest star in the universe. Since then he has been working to make the company live up to its name. His innovative business vision has led Sirius to become a nationally recognized technology provider with 2008 revenues of approximately $722 million, 705 employees, and 80 locations across the United States.
In December 2006, Mr. Najim established the Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation to help children’s charitable organizations in the greater San Antonio, Texas area. Mr. Najim donated $75 million to the Foundation, which supports various public charities that advance children’s education, children’s medical treatment, medical research for illnesses and diseases affecting children, and other children’s charitable purposes. His Foundation has given our approximately $20 million in Grants and Pledges during the past 2 ½ years. Mr. Najim currently participates in several task forces with IBM and is a member of the VARBusiness Editorial Advisory Counsel. His extraordinary leadership traits have made him successful in the business world, the technology industry, and his community.
